Hello and welcome to hell

Ryan had his first baseball practice on Tuesday night. John is the coach and I was a little worried about practices and games and having the rest of the kids by myself. The fields where we were playing aren't the best and in years past the coaches have had to chase a few homeless guys off. Because of that, I am not comfortable letting the boys just run around and play like I let them do at other parks. I feel like I have to constantly have them in my eyesight especially since we start around dusk and then by the time we are done it's dark out. The fields have lights but the parking lot and playground do not. So anyways, we got there and the boys did great.......for the first three minutes. Then they were crazy. John was on the field, I'm trying to talk to the parents and give them information, the baby is screaming because he wants out of the stroller and Blake and Tyson are climbing to the top of the chain link fence(they can actually both make it to the top which I think is impressive). The parents were seriously staring at me like I had three heads. I keep pulling Blake and Tyson down and finally I told them if they even tried to climb it one more time they would sit in the car and wait for practice to be over. Well, it worked. They didn't even try to climb the fence again. Instead they started to slide down the rail on the bleachers. Normally, I would just let them. they are boys, they are monkeys and I knew they could both do it but since I had random stangers staring at me with horrified looks on their faces I felt like I had to make them stop (I can not tell you how many of them repeated over and over that I have four boys....people..I KNOW! quit staring and help me out a little!) Finally, I convince them to hunt for bugs with Tyson's bug vacum. Great. They are busy for 5 min. now I can help the baby. One lady tells me I need to let him stand by the fence and just let him out. In my head I'm thinking, look lady, that's not the brightest of ideas, he can't walk, he won't just stand there, and I need at least one kid confined.....but I am too nice to say that out loud so I take him out and let him stand. he lasts 30 secs before I am frantically finger sweeping his mouth to get out the handful of pebbles he shoved in it. He goes back to the stroller. I am sweating by now and it is not hot enough for that to be happening. Blake and tyson are now bored and they start throwing handfuls of pebbles at each other. They think it's hilarious but again I am receiving death looks so I make them stop. I guess I was hoping one of them would knock the other out and then I would have one less kid to deal with (kidding people...don't call cps). I have had it so I walked them to the park and sat there in the dark while they played on the playground. Luckily no one was abducted (even if they were, I'm pretty confident they would have returned them about 20 minutes or so). I think I got in more of a workout than the players and needless to say, I swore off practices and I'm considering a babysitter for games.......... so...who wants to come watch a game?

My Sweetie!
I've been tagged by Candi, so here are my answers!

1. What is his name? John. Not short for Jonathan, just John. I do call him Johnny sometimes and he has learned to deal with it. Oh, and his middle name is Jefferson NOT Michael.

2. How long have you been married? On August 12th, it will be 8 years! It seems like it's been forever and at the same time I can't believe how much time has passed.

3. How long did you date? Not very long. We met in February and were engaged by May and married in August. yeah, I know...6 months. We were in Provo so really, by those standards, we had been together for a long time.

4. Who eats more sweets? John for sure. Don't get me wrong, I like sweets but I start feeling sick long before he does and I gain twice as much weight!

5. Who said I love you first? John did. My response? No you don't. I really thought he was feeding me a line. He was mad because well....he wasn't.

6. Who is taller? John. He's not super tall, 5'10" but his monkey arms...whew! you'd think he was like 7 feet tall or something.

7. Who can sing better? I was in choir at one time, however, that does not mean I can sing. My kids constantly tell me to stop singing. A few things they have mentioned are, that reeks, that's hideous, your hurting my ears, and the occasional crying for me to stop. I wish I were joking, but I am not. I hardly ever hear John sing. Church is about the only time and it's not too bad. Really though, neither one of us is great.

8. Who is smarter? I think we are about the same. There are subjects we are both better at but for the most part we are pretty equal. Actually, I take that back. He is smarter because he knows that I am always right.

9. Who does the laundry? I do the laundry. John complains about the laundry but since his arms are broken, he can't actually put a load in. He does know how to take a load out but those broken arms just can't seem to fold it or put it away. Because of this, he is lucky he has magic drawers that keep replenishing themselves with clean underwear.

10. Who pays the bills? Well, technically John does. I write the checks but he makes the dough.

11. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do. It has always been this way and I have no idea why. I will not, however, under any circumstances, share or give up my side of the bed.

12. Who cooks dinner? Me. This is an area where once again, John's arms are broken. He does clean up though so I can't complain too much.

13. Who drives? John. Why? Because he is the boy of course. Sometimes when he is tired and asks me to drive I'm like what? But I'm not the boy!

14. Who is more stubborn? He would say me, I would say him. Now that I actually think about it, it might be me........(don't tell him that).

15. Who kissed who first? He kissed me first....and then we made out for an hour.

16. Who asked who out first? We hung out as friends first and then John asked me out.

17. Who proposed? John. He put a lot of time and effort into it and we even have pictures! To be honest, at the time I just wanted to see the ring but looking back I wished I would have slowed down and took it all in.

18. Who wears the pants? We do try to talk to each other before we commit to anything and most of the time we agree. That being said, when we don't agree, I usually get my way. I think it goes back to the stubborn thing. I think maybe I wear pants and he wears capris.

Okay, now I tag: Alisa, Amanda, Rushelle, and Rachel

Happy Birthday John!!

Happy Birthday to John!! Today he turns 31. Wow, he is old. He's in his thirties. Me? Still twenty something....but back to John....We celebrated by going to Red Robin and Blake told the waitress it was John's birthday. They came over and sang and brought him ice cream. The boys thought that was really cool. Then we went to a big sports store in the mall (yes, we spent most of his birthday in the mall which is REALLY weird...he said he felt like a girl all day long. Sounds like more of a personal problem to me but anyways...) He had a specific basketball in mind that he wanted since his got stolen during city league a few months back (how is it that we are always having everything stolen????) anyways, they didn't have it so John and Blake climbed the rock wall. Tyson tried but they denied him. Too short. Ryan said there was no way no how he was gonna climb it so Blake wound up going twice. Anyways, then we went to another sports store, found a b-ball but it wasn't quite the one he was looking for. We bought it anywasy then we tried one more sports store and they had it! They only had one so we bought it and then took the first ball we bought back to the store and returned it. Also, these people who bought a house from John's company love him. John takes super good care of them and they know they can call anytime. Anyways, they gave john a 100 gift card to toys r us for the boys a few weeks ago. We told the boys about it but made them earn a trip to the toy store. We finally went yesterday and they also got basketballs. It was a really fun day and besides the fact that people were staring at us everywhere we went ( 4 kids...all boys...john and I look like we are 12 years old) it was fun and the kids were really good. I can't believe they lasted as long as they did.HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!

Eagle of the month

Hooray for Blake! He is Eagle of the month for February at his school. He has been waiting for this forever!! These are a few pictures from the assembly yesterday where they honored the eagles from each grade. He is most excited that he gets to do a special project with the principal and vice principal. I really hope he still thinks things like that are cool ten years from now......who am I kidding right? I'll just be happy if he still likes school ten years from now.

RSV

When I think of RSV I think of little babies and snow. I don't think of chunky babies and Vegas. Well guess what...I'm wrong. Tate has rsv. I now get to give him breathing treatments four times a day for the next 2 weeks and it looks like we aren't going anywhere for a while. I am glad we caught it early enough that we can do treatments at home. When we lived in Utah Ryan also got rsv but he had to be in the hospital and that was not fun. Also, I know I have been a major blog slacker this past week but with a sick baby and valentines day ( picture 3 kids times 30 valentines each plus candy taped to each one) and lots of other everyday crap I just haven't had time to be at the computer but since it looks like I am going to be stuck at home for a while maybe I can catch up a bit. I know everyone has been on pins and needles waiting......

Tater bug

I was going to write something about loving this age ......then Tate pulled out my glass baking dishes and they shattered. At that point I was kinda thinking maybe not so much. Then I remembered he can't talk back yet and I am back to loving this age.

It's all done!

We finally went to the laundromat last night. $60 and 3 hours later it was done. All of it. I do have to say that it was fun. I don't know if it is because John hasn't taken me on a date in a while or because I am just that old and boring now that a wall of washing machines looks like a good time. When we got there all the boys were asleep (that NEVER happens) and the place was empty. We just started filling washers until we were out of clothes (and quarters) and by the time we loaded up the last washer, the first load was ready to be moved to the dryer (this is random but I just realized that I am writing about how I did laundry....who gives a rats...seriously). Anyways, the boys stayed asleep until everything was already in the dryers and then they just pushed the carts around. It was fun and fast and if we ever get the chance to build another house I want a wall of washers and a wall of dryers (I can still hear John laughing). Anyways our clothes are in all the washers in the pic plus another row and in all the dryers plus another row. We had 16 loads and they were commericial size washers so you do the math (go ahead and change your underwear, I'll wait......)

Anyways, I even got everything but a load of towels put away. Hooray for me and if my washer ever breaks again I'm just going to throw out all our dirty clothes and buy new ones ( I can hear John laughing again........).
