Stupid Blogging

Do you ever write a post and then come back later and go "why did I write that? That's stupid and nobody cares." Well, that just happened to me.

Faux Hawks

As most of you know, I am affectionately known as the hair nazi. The boys pretty much don't get to go anywhere without their hair done. Yes, I know they are boys but I don't have any girls so leave me alone... Anyways, when they get hair cuts we cut it really short then let it grow out for while before we cut it again. (I cut everyone's hair including John so this makes it so I am not constantly cutting hair) the point is (yes, I promise there really is a point) they always beg me for a faux hawk when their hair gets long but since I haven't mastered my faux hawk skills I usually say no. Well today they were all begging and I figured what the heck. There are kids at school who haven't bathed in a week so if their hair looks dorky so what (I know, this is a major step for me). They were very excited and they all commented numerous times on how "cool" they looked. Anyways, here is the proof that I let them leave the house with a previously non-approved hair do.

Easter

So I just read alisa's blog about how nicholas knew the real reason we celebrate Easter. It reminded me of Ryan...who is 5 about to turn 6. Nicholas is 3. Here's the difference......as we were driving home from church we asked the boys what they learned about. Ryan said that his teachers tried to trick him and say that Easter was about Jesus Christ but he really knew they were lying and it was about the Easter bunny.....nice......

Silence

Ahh......silence. Just enjoying the boys being back at school and the baby down for his nap.....

3 more sleeps till school

Welcome to my spring break.....
Yes, that is sand topped with ketchup on my back patio. Don't even ask me where I was during this incident....I don't know.
The boys were very proud of their volcano. At least they were being creative right? Right.....

Tater's Cake

Tate turned 1 last Thursday and on sunday we had a little family party for him. It didn't really go the way we expected.....

Here is the birthday cake that I spent so much time lovingly buying from walmart (yeah...I don't do cakes...sorry).
Here tater is about to take his first taste of the best thing on earth.....chocolate. I fully expected him to dig in and chow down. I mean, the kid does not turn down anything so I was surprised with what happened next.....

Ah yes, this is the picture showing just what Tater thought of his cake......he HATED it.

Here is Tate giving us death stares....he's ticked because instead of taking him out of the high chair we left him in it and laughed at him a little too long.......
Oh well, I guess there is always next year.........

Tonight I was able to go to Alisa's little sister's wedding reception. It was really nice to get out without kids, eat good food, and catch up with friends. The reception was really nice and Amy looked so pretty but it made me feel so old! Mine was like 8 years ago and here I am 4 kids later going, where did all the time go? Seriously, where is it? It seems like I just got married but there I was buying eye cream for my crow's feet last week. I think between Tater's birthday, my eye cream, and this reception I might start to have a quater life crisis (I'm 2 years late but I'm late for everything...that's just emily standard time). I was thinking tonight that Alisa and I have been friends since third grade. That's like 19 years people. Jenny has been our friend since sixth grade....that's like 16 years. I just can't believe I have been friends with them for that long. Time is going way too fast and I'm not ready to be a bitter old lady with a grumpy old husband......AAHHHH!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATE!!

Happy first birthday to Tate....also known as Tater, Tater bug, Tater tot, baby boy, and hey you..... We are so happy that despite having 3 rough and tumble brothers, he has made it to one year old. He is so happy and easy going and he can really hold his own with his brothers. He has gotten so big so fast and I am sad that my last baby is growing up. Here are a few pictures from his first year. We love you Tater!

3 down 3 to go

Tater and I have had the flu Sunday and Monday and I picked Blake up at school early today after the nurse called and told me he puked in the cafeteria. When we got home, I stuck Blake in the shower and then put some pj's on him. As I was tucking him into his bed he asked me if I would serve him. I said yes and I'm not quite sure what I thought he meant but I think I was thinking along the lines of a glass of water. I asked him what he needed and he then proceeded to tell me he needed me to bring a t.v. into his room and set it on his desk so he could watch cartoons, he wanted me to bring him a banana muffin on a tray (right...the kid just puked all over the lunchroom) and he also wanted his math notebook so he could work on some problems..............my response?I'll be right back with that notebook.......
